Apparently he cried initially, but then kind of went into shock at the sight of the blood; (there was a lot of it... that i know from his clothes i got to wash) At the hospital, he was really quiet and brave. The nurse said she never had such a well behaved kid in the ER. We are sure she NEVER says that to anyone else.

Things went well until the final two stitches. He said he could feel it and it hurt and began begging and pleading and kicking and screaming. Four people held him down while he cried and asked for his mom. (awww) Brian said the nurse just turned her head and started bawling.
Caleb has that effect on people.
This is Caleb pre-accident, enjoying a PB&J sandwich. This is the only thing on earth he will eat that doesn't have a primary ingredient of sugar. But don't you worry, he's got himself some Swedish fish there too.
This was Caleb upon arriving home to me. His eye was swelled shut, as cuts like that tend to do and he was unbearably frustrated at life with one working eye. He was exhausted and cranky and in pain and frankly, not all that enjoyable. After trying to smother him with love which he clearly wasn't interested in receiving, he finally broke away asked if he could watch Lightning McQueen (cars). Brian put it on and settled beside him. He not so politely told him to go away. Brian came and told me and I assumed he just wanted his mom. So I went right in there to snuggle up with him.He looked at me, sighed, and said with struggled patience and a hint of exasperation like you speak to a child who clearly needs to have it spelled out for them, "Mom I'm watching BY MYSELF."
I left him in peace. I know better than to disturb the king.

Awww, what a sad looking eye!! Way to go Caleb! He sure knows how to look good while in pain.
he will have a matching scar with our duke who toddled and bumped his head on the fireplace getting 8 stitches.
Poor thing. That is just heart-breaking. Seriously.
what a sweetie. i have a soft spot for him though...
i will be there for the 4th of july and will be staying for a couple of weeks.. keep ya posted!!
And what a KING he is, too! He took control of all the attention up camping, too. He's a funny boy! Did you hear that Cole told Kelly he's his best friend? Those two were inseparable most of the time.
That is quite the shiner! Hope he is feeling more like himself now and letting people join him in watching Cars :)
That is seriously cute what Jen said about him and Cole!
parenthood can't REALLY begin until you have hit stitches or broken bone status. welcome to the club. caleb ought to keep you on the front lines am i right? actually come to think of it, falling down the stairs 100 times and goose eggs just might count.
